The H2F Journal is a professional publication of the H2F Directorate in support of the Total Army Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) community of practice. H2F System updates are generalized to protect operational security. Data reported herein is publicly releasable as unclassified material.

Feature Article Submission Requirements
The H2F Journal is published quarterly. To be considered for publication, submissions must address issues of strategic relevance to U.S. Army and/or Department of War leaders and directly relate to one or more domains of the H2F System (Physical, Nutritional, Mental, Sleep, Spiritual). All submissions must exhibit high standards of research and scholarship, avoid unnecessary jargon, and be written in a language accessible to Soldiers, busy policymakers, commanders, and senior decision-makers.  

Formatting
Document Setup:  Page size standard 8.5 x 11 inches, margins (left, right, top, and bottom) must be 1-inch, including around tables, figures.  Use a single-column layout with a ragged (unjustified) right margin, double-space all text and indent new paragraphs by 1/2 inch.  
Do not include a title page. Write your article in English. 

Font Specifications: Main Body: 12 pt. Times (or the closest comparable serif font). Footnotes: 10 pt. Times (or the closest comparable serif font).  

Article Length: Refer to chart for length requirements for each type of submission.   

Headings: Headings (e.g., the start of sections) should be distinguished from the main body text by their fonts. Use the same font face for all headings and indicate the hierarchy by reducing the font size for sub-sections. Ensure there is clear spacing above and below all headings.  

Acronyms: Acronyms should only be established after the term in question is written out fully upon its first use.  
Exceptions: «US» (no periods) when used as an adjective, «EU», «NATO», and «UN» may be used without prior definition.  

Graphics and Images: Authors must obtain formal permissions for the use of all graphics and images not owned or created by the author, including embedded graphics used within author-created graphics. Authors must provide written evidence of permission for use upon submission.  

Style, Grammar, and Citations: The H2F Journal adheres to the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th Edition for grammar, punctuation, and citation formatting. Please refer to this manual when considering capitalization, use of commas, passive voice, formatting numbers in text, and hyphenated words.  

Footnotes: For articles, please use footnotes instead of endnotes, formatted according to Chicago style. All footnotes must be referenced at the end of sentences only, and only one footnote reference is allowed per sentence.

Turf Talks Delivers a quick, applied skills snapshot that Soldiers can put to immediate use in their daily routines.

400-600 words | Hook audience with buy-in to the topic (what it is and why we care). | Describe briefly the science behind a technique (why it works). | Instructions to teach the technique. | Call to action. Challenge the audience to integrate the technique. | Follow additional submission requirements on the following page.

Helpful Resources Share digital or physical tools that have improved your unit’s readiness, supported professional development, or increased awareness of resources. 1–3 sentence narrative summarizing the resource and how your organization utilized it. | Website link and/or Point of Contact (POC) information.
Feature Articles Professionally written articles aligned with the publication’s theme, looking at current and future Army needs through the lens of H2F. 1,500-4,000 words | Complete manuscript using the Additional Submission Requirements found on the following page.
