WHAT IS HOLISTIC HEALTH AND FITNESS?

H2F is changing the culture of health and fitness in the Army, but the successful integration of H2F requires a change of lifestyles and beliefs at the individual level, reinforced by behaviors at the organizational level. Command teams are the agents for positive change across the force and ultimately will determine how their formation prioritizes H2F.

"Leader investment is essential to promote, train, prioritize, and improve the readiness of Soldiers and units. Leaders drive cultural change by providing the resources for that change. The success or failure of the H2F system depends upon the quality of its leadership."

H2F PERFORMANCE TEAMS

To help command teams incorporate H2F into their mission planning and training calendars, the Army is fielding H2F Performance Teams to brigades throughout the active-duty force. There will be 50 H2F Performance Teams fielded by the end of Fiscal Year 2024, with the goal of fielding a total of 111 teams by the end of Fiscal Year 2027. The National Guard and Army Reserves are also looking into different options to provide H2F subject matter experts to their units, taking into account their inherent challenges of being geographically dispersed and limited touchpoints with their Soldiers.

Units should not wait to start incorporating H2F into their formations until these teams are all fielded. Command teams can look to FM 7-22 as a starting point for how to implement H2F into their unit and leverage subject matter experts within their formations, such as the Brigade Surgeon, Physical Therapists, H2F-Integrators (formerly Master Fitness Trainers), and Chaplains. You can also leverage installation assets like the Armed Forces Wellness Centers, Ready and Resilient Centers, and your MWR. The resources at the bottom of this page can also help your unit implement H2F.
